Yicai Global: American aerospace giant Boeing is set to build new facilities for cargo based freighter jets in Guangzhou, China, as well as in Singapore. The facilities will be used to convert older aircraft into 767-300 cargo planes which can be used for short haul transportation routes.
The investment comes amid a fall in the company’s commercial passenger aircraft sales and an increasing demand for air freight. Boeing already operates conversion facilities in Shandong, Shanghai as well as in Guangzhou itself. The company states that China constitutes the world’s largest market for airframe freighters, consisting of 30% of the world’s total.
Boeing on the other hand, continues to be the world’s largest provider of commercial freight aircraft, occupying 90% of the global market.
